LA Movie Review- The Wolverine

The Wolverine travels to Japan in order to say goodbye to an old friend. He then must protect his friend's granddaughter while fighting the Japanese Mafia, other mutants, & his own personal demons. I found this to be a surprisingly enjoyable movie, considering I don't like most X men movies. It was a very well directed, smaller superhero movie. What I have mean is that it doesn't try to be a huge epic movie. Instead it tells a smaller story & that is just what it needed. The screenplay had good amounts of action throughout & it's drama delivered when it needed to. Hugh Jackman is awesome as a vulnerable Wolverine, who is being haunted by his past. The Japanese setting is gladly welcome, considering most superhero movies take place in American cities. It does have it's fair share of problems though. The villains aren't very memorable, the plot is a bit confusing at times, & the final moments do go down a step quality wise. However that doesn't take away the fact that this is still a very solid movie.
3.8/5
