LA Movie Review- Gangs Of New York

Gangs Of New York is the story of man who bides his time for years, waiting to get revenge on the man who killed his father. Martin Scorsese does a very stylized job directing his vision of a 1800s New York City. Because of that a lot of the Five Points look like sets. Scorsese also brings a lot of brooding tension in the first half & delivers an entertaining second half while telling his tale of morals, corruption, love, & heritage. Acting wise Leonardo DiCaprio is good as usual but Daniel Day Lewis is just awesome as Bill the Butcher. He brings such an entertaining aspect to each scene he's in. This is a long movie but it's second is so good that it deserves multiple viewings.
3.8/5
