LA Movie Review- The Conjuring

Paranormal investigators Ed & Lorraine Warren attempt to save a family from the grips of an evil entity. Is this movie truly scary? Yes. Did it make me scream in the theater? Yes. More than once? Possibly. That's how good of a job director James Wan does. The director of Insidious has perfected his method of allowing his films to take their time & build to a great finale. At times you feel ahead of the plot & then the movie turns & throws you off completely, giving you more to explore in the film's terrifying dark. It is helped by it's music & writing, which keep you leaned all the way back, trying to be as far away from the gruesome images on screen. The acting is good all the way around, unlike most scary movies, & that's because this is a true horror film. It's frightening, nerve wrecking, & a great film. The Conjuring delivers & is one of 2013's best.
4.7/5
