LA Movie Review- Gravity

An astronaut must search for the will to survive after an accident leaves her stranded in space. Alfonso Quaŕon proves himself to be a visionary director with this breath taking film. His use of the camera is unlike anything ever done before. He places you directly in the terrifying vastness of space. The cinematography is nothing short of stellar. It is guaranteed to win an Academy Award. The visual effects are absolutely mesmerizing. This should be seen in 3D. I believe that it's a different movie without it. Since there is no sound in space, the film's score carries a lot of weight. As for the acting, Sandra Bullock stars as a first time astronaut which allows the audience to connect with her character & experience everything happening to her. She drives this movie. Sandra Bullock is very good, as is George Clooney who very convincingly plays an experienced astronaut. Gravity does have its problems. The scope of the movie is so terrifyingly huge that it is very easy to get dizzy. The screenplay seems to write itself into a corner at certain times & gets repetitive & dare I say ... boring. Still, Gravity is a movie theater experience unlike anything before it. It is a good movie but it did leave me bored at times. The film is also incredibly hyped up & just falls short of it.
3.9/5
