LA Movie Review- The Lone Ranger
An old statue of Tonto tells the origin story of his pal, The Lone Ranger. Gore Verbinski, director of one good Pirates of The Caribbean movie & two bad ones, does a terrible job here. The writing is even worse. I don't even think this movie had an editor because a good thirty, dragging minutes could have been cut out of the movie. Not only would that have made the movie shorter, it also would have made it better. The plot is confusing & very stupid at times. There's characters that get a considerable amount of screen time that do absolutely nothing to the story. Armie Hammer could have been a good Ranger but his direction prevented his full potential. Even when he became The Lone Ranger, I didn't feel he gave off vibes of vigilance & justice. I don't understand how the producers of the movie could show the movie to Disney & be proud of what they had done. Maybe because the only reason Disney made this was to get another franchise, sell toys, & add another section to their theme parks. That won't likely happen, as the theater had about 20 people in it. The most disappointing aspect is the amount of potential this had to be a great movie. Johnny Depp stole the show as Tonto. Even when this movie does ride high, it gets bogged down by campy theme music. The Lone Ranger is a bloated, stupid, disappointment.
