LA Movie Review- Shaun Of The Dead

In honour of this week's release of The World's End I will review each installment of Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy. Shaun of The Dead stars Simon Pegg & Nick Frost, best friends who attempt to survive a zombie apocalypse with their friends by hiding out in a pub. Pegg stars as a man who's life is going nowhere while Frost plays his vulgar & lazy best friend. This is a very clever British comedy written by Pegg & director Edgar Wright. If you haven't seen it, it's hysterical ride with strong elements of horror throughout. Nick Frost & Pegg have tremendous chemistry that lighten even the most horrific moments. The relationships Simon Pegg has with the other characters is the backbone of the film. His relationship with his ex-girlfriend & his mother forces him to be caring as his friendship with Nick Frost forces him to take on the role of leadership. This all stems from good writing & directing which this film has. The film also has a unique tone which manages both to have throwback moments to older zombie films while staying original. All in all it's witty, scary, & heart warming. Shaun of The Dead is a fantastic film that is king of zombie films.
4.5/5
