LA Movie Review- Instructions Not Included

When Acapulco's resident playboy discovers that he is a father his world is turned upside down. Star & director Eugenio Derbez claims to have worked on this movie for 12 years & I for one, believe him because this movie felt 12 years long. There is no sense of editing in the entire film. It actually would have been bearable if it was cut shorter. It's a very goofy, silly movie that contains as many stupid jokes as it does winks to the audience. The problem of putting so many current references is that it immediately takes you out of the movie. I don't think Eugenio Derbez did a good job with this. He allowed it to run far too long, provided many false endings, & delivered a completely unnecessary end. As a star he didn't push himself as a comedian, doing the same old stupid jokes every scene. The best thing going for it is the relationship between Eugenio & his daughter. It's a cute relationship but it can't salvage this mess. Instructions Not Included is a goofy family movie that over stays it's welcome & is ultimately not worth a trip to the movies.
2/5
