We get to see how Oz became a great wizard in this prequel to The Wizard of Oz. I will say that director Sam Rami does a good job of taking you into this CGI world & offers new twists to the Wicked Witch making her a tragic villain. It also seems like Sam Rami is holding back & encouraged the actors to do so for the sake of the kid friendly tone. As for acting James Franco is always either hit or miss for me & in this he was barely a hit. Zack Braff is brings the laughs, but underused as the monkey. It seems bad, but there is fun to be had in the first half of this film, but the second half drags & really makes it feel like the 2 hour running time.
