LA Movie Review- Monster's University
Mike Wazowski attempts to lead Sulley & a group of misfits to victory at their school's annual Scare Games. This is a very important movie for Pixar. Not only does it have to follow the instant classic, Monsters Inc, but it has to prove that Pixar is still the top dog when it comes to animation, especially after it struck out twice with Cars 2 & Brave. Is Monsters University Pixar's third strike or is it Pixar's salvation? The answer is neither. Monsters University isn't terrible and it isn't fantastic. It is simply a good animated movie that tends to lean to the side of children's entertainment as opposed to family entertainment. Because of that it's one of the least funny Pixar movies. There is enjoyment to be had with this, especially with the third act, the strongest part of the film. The third act not only contains the most impressive sequence of animation that I have ever seen, but it also fully develops the heart of the franchise; Mike & Sulley's friendship. Billy Crystal & John Goodman return and provide great voice work. Monsters University isn't as good as Monsters Inc, but it is still a good movie.
