LA Movie Review- The Place Beyond The Pines

A motorcyclist turns to robbing banks in order to provide for his girlfriend & their child. In turn a cop's morality is tested when facing corruption. The decisions these men make affect their future generations in the third act of the film. This is an incredibly gripping story that sucked me right in. I have never, in any review, called any film a masterpiece. This film is a masterpiece. It's tone is dark, gritty & realistic. The director and writer have created a powerfully strong art house film, unlike anything I have ever seen. This is also the best ensemble acting cast on screen this year. As great as Ryan Goslin is he is still out shined by Bradley Cooper. Bradley Cooper delivers his best performance to date as a cop battling corruption. Deen Dehan from Chronicle fame, plays Goslin's son & gets better with every role. I can't state that enough, this kid was put on this planet to act. Thats just scratching the surface of the actors in this film. Ray Liotta, Ben Medelhson & Eva Mendes are also very good. This is a masterfully crafted three arc film that blows every other movie out of the water. This is The Best Film Of The Year so far.
5/5
